COURSE OUTLINE

Who Should Enrol Into This Qualification?

This qualification is designed for driving operation job roles within the Transport and Logistics Industry.

It provides students/employees with the skills required to:

  • Operate a Medium Rigid, Heavy Rigid, Heavy Combination or Multi combination vehicle.
  • Carry Out Vehicle Inspections
  • Load and unload goods and cargo

Job roles and titles vary across different sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • Line Haul Driver
  • Local Heavy General Freight Driver
  • Interstate Driver

Delivery Methods

  • Distance – preferably online otherwise with workbooks
  • Students to complete reading and required work either via the online portal or with their workbook
  • Students will complete project work and withdrawal log if they are trainees
  • Trainer will have monthly contact with the student and the workplace supervisor if the student is a trainee
  • Trainer will assess on site, provide tasks and time frames to be completed, provide support and assistance, and follow up on progress between visits
  • Classroom – as above however the reading / workbook will be completed in class

Qualification Rules

Successful completion of the qualification will require competence in units of competency that relate tot he job role requirements defined in the TL110 Training Package. Successful completion of the licensing units within the qualification must align with the licensing and regulatory requirements applicable to driving and state/territory regulatory requirements.

To achieve a Cert III in Driving Operations 18 to 20 units of competency must be completed.

  • 6 core units
  • At least one licensing or industry or industry unit relevant to the vehicle type applicable to a job role
  • All units within one of the selected job role groups listed in the training package
  • 6 elective units
